Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Following ACL Reconstruction with Hamstring Graft: A Case Series
A bstract Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is frequently performed, especially among athletes, with the hamstring graft often preferred for its favorable biomechanical properties and minimal donor site complications. However, successful recovery relies heavily on a structured rehabilitation protocol post-surgery. Materials and Methods: This case series documents five patients who underwent ACL reconstruction using hamstring grafts and followed a standardized physiotherapy program. Demographic data, injury characteristics, surgical details, and rehabilitation regimens are outlined. The rehabilitation involved progressive weight bearing, range of motion (ROM) exercises, muscle strengthening, and functional training. Outcome measures included assessments of knee ROM, muscle strength, and functional performance. Conclusion: Findings indicate that a comprehensive and progressive rehabilitation approach supports effective recovery and facilitates return to sports.
