Lawsonia inermis ‐Derived Zn₂V₂O₇: Optimizing Alkaline Electrolyte Type and Concentration for Enhanced Electrochemical Performance in Supercapacitor Applications

Abstract Present work reports the synthesis of Zn 2 V 2 O7 nanostructuresby combustion method using natural henna leaves powder (NH) and commercialhenna powder (CH) as fuels and were characterized using X‐ray diffraction, FTIR, SEM, total X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy and TEM techniques. Since, vanadiumand zinc are reasonably inexpensive, widely available, and capable ofproviding a wide variety of redox processes, these can be made favorablefor electrochemical energy storage. Hence, we have investigated for the first time the electrochemical performance of Zn 2 V 2 O 7 using NH and CH by CV and galvanostatic charging–discharging techniques. The Zn 2 V 2 O 7 preparedusing NH and CH exhibited specific capacitance values of 884 Fg −1 and 589 Fg −1 , respectively, at the current density of 1 A g −1 in1 M KOH. The maximum energy density and power density values of Zn 2 V 2 O 7 were calculated to be 22.70 Wh kg −1 and 2,150 W kg −1 prepared using NH and 15.12 Wh kg −1 and 2,145 Wkg −1 prepared using CH, respectively. The Zn 2 V 2 O 7 prepared using NH exhibited good retention of 99.5% for 5000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g −1 . These investigations revealed that the Zn 2 V 2 O 7 prepared using NH could be considered as a potential material for energy storage application.
