The Effects of Leisure Activity Intervention Based on the Model of Human Occupation on Time Use, Positive Psychological Capital, and Rehabilitation Motivation in Community-Dwelling People with Disabilities
Objective : This study investigated the effects of a leisure activity intervention based on the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) on time use, positive psychological capital, and rehabilitation motivation in community-dwelling individuals with disabilities. Methods : 10 participants with disabilities from a community rehabilitation program were selected. 2-3 occupational therapy undergraduates, under the supervision of a professor, visited each participant's home to conduct assessments and a 10-session intervention. A pretest-posttest design was used. Time use (sleep, work, ADL, and leisure) was assessed using the Occupational Questionnaire (OQ), positive psychological capital was measured using the Korean version of the Positive Psychological Capital Scale (K-PPC) and rehabilitation motivation was measured using the instrument to measure the motivation for rehabilitation in the disabled. To analyze the pre-post changes in time use, positive psychological capital, and rehabilitation motivation following the leisure activity program, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used. Results : Sleep time significantly decreased, while work time significantly increased. ADL time decreased, and leisure time increased, though not significantly. Positive psychological capital improved significantly, while rehabilitation motivation showed no significant change. Conclusion : The MOHO-based leisure intervention was effective in modifying time use patterns and enhancing positive psychological capital in community-dwelling individuals with disabilities.
