The Phonostylistic Methods and Means of Creating Comic Situations in The Speech of Uzbek Comedians

This article explores the phonostylistic and phonopragmatic strategies used by Uzbek comedians to construct humorous situations in performance discourse. It investigates the role of phonetic manipulation—particularly vowel elongation, consonant gemination, and stress variation—in conveying irony, sarcasm, intensification, emotionality, and cultural symbolism. Drawing on examples from well-known performers such as Hojiboy Tojiboyev and Avaz Oxun, the study demonstrates how these phonostylistic tools enhance communicative effect, evoke laughter, and reflect national identity. The findings highlight the anthropocentric and functional nature of sound alteration in comedic speech, underscoring its relevance for the broader study of Uzbek phonostylistics.
