Research on Circuit Breaker Condition Assessment Based on Fault Recording Data

The reliable operation of circuit breakers is of vital importance to the stable operation of power systems. Traditional methods for evaluating the status of circuit breakers mostly rely on manual labor, which are inefficient and hard to guarantee accuracy. Therefore, to address these issues, research on high-voltage switch status evaluation technology based on fault-recording data is carried out. For the electrical life of circuit breakers, the principle of how it is affected by factors such as pre-breakdown current is analyzed. The electrical life threshold is set according to relevant standards and tests, and the closing loss ratio is calculated using on-site data. Regarding re-ignition during circuit breaker opening, the signal is processed by wavelet transform, and then the SVM algorithm is used to judge the waveform, achieving an accuracy of 97.9%. Regarding three-phase current imbalance, this paper analyzes its causes on the power supply side and load side as well as its adverse effects on power systems and equipment. Additionally, a three-phase current imbalance analysis algorithm based on fault-recording data is proposed. This algorithm employs the symmetrical component method to decompose the three-phase current and assesses the imbalance degree using the ratio of the negative-sequence component to the positive-sequence component, thereby ensuring the safe and stable operation of the system. This research provides effective methods and important references for improving the level of circuit breaker status evaluation and enhancing the reliability of power systems.
