Electromagnetic Fields of Energized Conductors in Media with Multi-Layer Vertical Boundaries

The computation of the electromagnetic (EM) fields due to energized thin-wire conductors in a vertical multilayer medium is discussed. The Unified Transform (UT) method is developed for electromagnetic applications to find a full wave solution for the EM fields generated by a network of conductors located in a vertically stratified medium. Numerical results obtained with this method are presented for a complex network in a three-layer vertical soil.

Abstract

The computation of the electromagnetic (EM) fields due to energized thin-wire conductors in a vertical multilayer medium is discussed. The Unified Transform (UT) method is developed for electromagnetic applications to find a full wave solution for the EM fields generated by a network of conductors located in a vertically stratified medium. Numerical results obtained with this method are presented for a complex network in a three-layer vertical soil.
