Poster: Logical Tree Networks for Multicast in Event-Driven Systems

To improve the efficiency of event-driven publish/subscribe systems, which commonly send parallel unicasts to all subscribed clients, a higher-level multicast over logical tree networks in the form of binary search trees is examined. These provide a deterministic packet delivery order along with client prioritization and are found to deliver packets to the first and last clients within a short time difference. The network and processor load is distributed from the server to the individual clients.

Abstract

To improve the efficiency of event-driven publish/subscribe systems, which commonly send parallel unicasts to all subscribed clients, a higher-level multicast over logical tree networks in the form of binary search trees is examined. These provide a deterministic packet delivery order along with client prioritization and are found to deliver packets to the first and last clients within a short time difference. The network and processor load is distributed from the server to the individual clients.
