Beam Operation Mode Switching Strategy for LEO Satellite Communication Systems
To support the advancement of satellite communications, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has im-plemented specific guidelines for satellite communication system use. According to ITU Radio Regulations, downlink frequency usage must adhere to power flux density limits at the ground level, which vary by region. As low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites move rapidly relative to the ground, the operation mode of the beam will switch when the satellite transitions from one region to another, leading to a situation where adjacent beams may operate in different modes. Consequently, downlink signals from beams in different modes may interfere with each other. To improve LEO satellite communication quality and to ensure reliable data transmission, this study investigates beam operation mode switching techniques. To minimize system interference while keeping the interference experienced by each beam below a defined threshold, this study proposes a sequential beam-switching strategy. Simulation results demonstrate that the pro-posed approach effectively maintains interference levels for each beam below the threshold while significantly reducing overall system interference.
