On Modeling Transformation Electromagnetic Media Using Lumped Circuit Elements

Transformation electromagnetics has shown to be a promising theory for developing media that has unique electro-magnetic properties such as lens compression and beam forming. In this paper, wave expansion and compression described by the theory of transformation electromagnetics is modeled using discrete lumped circuit elements. This is beneficial because the circuit model proposed here is a step towards PCB prototyping and device measurements. Theory is validated with both COM-SOL and circuit simulations throughout this work.

Abstract

Transformation electromagnetics has shown to be a promising theory for developing media that has unique electro-magnetic properties such as lens compression and beam forming. In this paper, wave expansion and compression described by the theory of transformation electromagnetics is modeled using discrete lumped circuit elements. This is beneficial because the circuit model proposed here is a step towards PCB prototyping and device measurements. Theory is validated with both COM-SOL and circuit simulations throughout this work.
