Implementation of Hybrid Channel Estimation algorithm in mm-Wave massive MIMO Systems

Channel estimation (CE) is difficult in millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. This difficulty arises because of the large number of antennas, low signal-to-noise ratio before beamforming, and hardware limitations. The proposed method addresses these issues by selecting specific beams and estimating channel parameters based on channel sparsity and beam orthogonality. As the number of antennas increases, the beams for each channel become more distinct, and the signal power improves. This leads to better estimation performance. The method also enhances the sum rate compared to traditional methods and allows for accurate channel estimation with fewer pilot symbols. Numerical results confirm that this method performs better than traditional approaches, especially with a large number of antennas.
