Modelling of Fiber Bragg Grating for Biomechanical Pressure Sensing

The paper demonstrates the modelling of Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) with uniform period for measuring the biomechanical pressure. Modelling of the uniform FBG is done using RSoft numerical simulation platform, which shows the spectral response at fixed central wavelengths of 1532 nm, 1540 nm, 1548 nm, 1556 nm and 1564 nm with a grating period of 0.5259889592 μm, 0.528745332 μm, 0.5315018049 μm, 0.5342583758 μm and 0.5370150413 μm respectively. Grating length is varied between 0.1 mm to 25 mm and it was noted the reflectivity increased gradually and 100 % reflectivity achieved for a grating length of 2 mm and above. Obtained FWHM of 0.001 nm for a central wavelength of 1556 nm and grating length of 2 mm. The simulation result shows the reflectivity increases with different grating length and FWHM decreases with increase in grating length.
