Compact MIMO Antenna with Enhanced Isolation for WI-MAX Application

The field of antenna technology has experienced significant advancements over the past few decades. In contrast to traditional large-sized antennas, microstrip patch antennas have emerged as a versatile solution, finding applications in mobile phones, defense instruments, wireless wearable devices, and more. This study presents a microstrip patch antenna fabricated on a cost-effective FR-4 substrate with precise dimensions. The antenna design incorporates a circular slot and a copper patch, optimized through simulations to achieve desirable performance characteristics, with particular emphasis on the reflection coefficient. A distinctive feature of the proposed design is the integration of copper cells to form a Partially Reflecting Surface (PRS), enhancing the antenna’s feed structure. Operating at a frequency of 5 GHz, the antenna meets diverse communication requirements within this frequency range and achieves a bandwidth enhancement of 702 MHz.
