Maximum Likelihood based Phylogenetic Analysis of Candida Auris considering β-1,3-D-glucan synthase Protein

Candida auris, an emerging multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen, poses a significant threat to global healthcare due to its ability to cause severe and often fatal infections that are difficult to treat. This research paper investigates the complexities of C. auris by analyzing its phylogenetic tree to understand genetic and molecular homologies among different species. This approach aims to repurpose FDA-approved drugs from 1 strain of C. auris to other infectious strains. Furthermore, the research delves into the importance of target proteins such as β-1,3-D-glucan synthase, a key enzyme in cell wall synthesis, which is inhibited by the FDA-approved drug caspofungin. Through phylogenetic analysis, it is observed that the query protein with ID 10029 shows the highest closeness to target protein ID 10001. It displays an identity score of 96%. Finally, present paper explores the potential of caspofungin in combating the C. auris infections, thereby offering hope in the fight against this formidable pathogen.
