Comparison of Different Substrate Materials for Designing Octagon Shaped WBAN Antenna for Medical Applications

This paper presents an octagonal patch WBAN antenna using textile as substrate material. Three different materials arlon, taconic and textile have been compared based on their return loss and gain obtained, arlon is found to be best suited. The gain hence obtained is 6.9dB and return loss is -21.8dB at 3.35GHZ frequency. Comparison of materials here showed arlon with dielectric constant 3.38 giving the optimum results with substrate height of 2.5mm.
