Optical Behavior of Synthesized PVDF/MWCNT/PSSA Flexible Nanocomposite Membrane

This study investigates the synthesis and optical behavior of flexible polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT), and polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSSA) polymer nanocomposite membranes. The membranes were fabricated using a solution blending technique, combining the advantageous properties of PVDF for flexibility, MWCNTs for enhanced conductivity, and PSSA for improved ionic conductivity. UV-Visible spectroscopy, was employed to evaluate the optical and molecular characteristics of the nanocomposites. These results indicated a significant increase in absorbance across the UV and visible spectra, particularly due to the synergistic effects of MWCNTs and PSSA. There is a confirmed successful incorporation of MWCNTs and PSSA into the PVDF matrix, with distinct peaks corresponding to the molecular interactions between the components. The unique combination of PVDF, MWCNTs, and PSSA enhances the abrorbance and reduces reflectance of the nanocomposites and with high concentration of PSSA, making them suitable for applications in flexible electronics, sensors, and energy storage devices.
