Ferrimagnetic semiconducting state and high thermoelectric behavior in newly synthesized ordered LaCu3Fe2RuSbO12: first-principles insight

Abstract Quadruple double perovskite oxide (QDPO) structures belong to a fascinating family of materials science as they possess exceptional applications in magnetic memory and thermoelectric (TE) devices. Here, we present numerous physical attributes of the LaCu 3 Fe 2 RuSbO 12 QDPO based on the first-principles calculations comprehensively. The system shows a semiconducting aspect, keeping an indirect energy gap ( E g ) of 0.67 eV. It is found that the smaller ∠ Fe-O-Cu bond angle of 103.8 ∘ in contrast to 115.3 ∘ for ∠ Ru/Sb-O-Cu favors the strong antiferromagnetic interactions due to the π -bond between Fe and Cu ions, leading to a ferrimagnetic (FiM) spin ordering as Cu +2 ↑ Fe + 3 Ru +4 ↑ .
