Comparative chemotherapy alteration in transmissible venereal tumour affected female dogs

Canine transmissible venereal tumor (CTVT) primarily affecting the external genitalia of dogs transmitted through copulation. This study evaluated the hematological and biochemical effects of vincristine sulfate and cyclophosphamide treated animals. Both groups exhibited a gradual decline in hemoglobin levels, though changes were statistically non-significant. Vincristine treated animals showed a significant reduction in total leukocyte count (TLC) and neutrophil percentage (p<0.05), whereas cyclophosphamide treatment resulted in a less pronounced TLC decrease and a highly significant drop in neutrophils (p<0.01). Lymphocyte and monocyte percentages increased significantly in both groups. Eosinophil percentages declined non-significantly across groups. Serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels decreased significantly in both the groups (p<0.05), while SGPT, creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels showed non-significant changes over time. Overall, both chemotherapeutic agents induced mild hematological and biochemical alterations without major toxicity or recurrence.
