Communicative approach to grammar learning of students

This study examined the level of students' grammar proficiency through the use of the Communicative Approach to learning. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational research design, a pre-test and post-test were conducted to assess the students' grammar skills before and after the intervention. Data analysis using weighted mean and t-test revealed that students initially obtained a failing mean score of 69.81 or "did not meet expectations" in the pre-test. However, there was a significant increase in performance after employing the Communicative Approach, resulting in a mean score of 88.16 or "proficient." Notable improvement was observed in several areas of grammar, particularly in the topics of pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs. The findings underscore the effectiveness of the Communicative Approach in enhancing grammar skills. The study recommends integrating this approach into specific oral and written activities, such as essay writing, role-playing, and news reporting, to further strengthen students' grammar proficiency.
