ODNOS FANTASTIKE I RELIGIJE U POBOŽNIM DRAMAMA MAVRA VETRANOVIĆA

The paper examines the presence and function of fantastic beings and phenomena in Vetranović’s religious dramas, as well as the degree of their participation in the structure of the dramatic text. Fantasy appears as connected to religion, bringing biblical thought closer to readers in an interesting way, but also as the embodiment of hidden aspirations, tabooed desires, forbidden thoughts. Aditionnaly, the dramas reveal the psychology and characterology of the people of the old Dubrovnik. Biblical thought and the Renaissance revival in fantasy equally find space for manifestation and a way for their incorporation into the consciousness of readers.
