SMART management in the HoReCa sector: how ERP supports a Data-Driven approach to strategy implementation

This article explores the potential for implementing SMART management in the HoReCa segment, taking into account current industry challenges and technological trends. The study emphasizes the role of ERP systems as a foundation for adopting a data-driven approach to strategic business development. Based on an analysis of functional digital strategies and real-time performance indicators, the authors propose a multi-level model of smart management that integrates ERP modules into key operational and analytical processes of restaurants and hospitality enterprises. The research highlights that transparency, automation, and speed of decision-making are the core values that ERP systems bring to the HoReCa industry. Modules such as finance, CRM, inventory, procurement, HR management, and business intelligence not only improve operational efficiency but also serve as the basis for continuous data analysis. This allows business owners and managers to adapt strategies dynamically based on customer behavior and performance indicators. The methodological framework of the research includes systemic, structural-functional, and comparative approaches. The study was conducted through expert analysis of secondary data, synthesis of academic and industry sources, and content analysis of ERP solutions tailored to the Ukrainian HoReCa market. Particular attention is given to the integration of digital tools that support customer-centric strategies, especially under conditions of uncertainty and market volatility. The findings confirm that ERP systems can significantly enhance the responsiveness and adaptability of HoReCa enterprises, offering a unified data environment that supports smart, real-time management. The proposed model can be applied in practice to optimize processes, reduce operational risks, and strengthen the strategic resilience of businesses in the hospitality sector.
