An adaptive model for enhancing the efficiency of enterprise economic behavior through cost management
The article presents the results of a comprehensive study focused on the challenges, methodological approaches, and instruments of effective cost management in the context of economic transformation, uncertainty, and digitalization. The research is grounded in the analysis of contemporary theoretical frameworks, performance evaluation methods, and empirical evidence from enterprise practices. Cost management is conceptualized as a holistic, adaptive system that integrates strategic planning, budgeting, operational control, performance evaluation, and feedback mechanisms into a unified cycle of managerial decision-making. The proposed conceptual model reflects the logic of cyclicality and adaptability, allowing enterprises to respond flexibly to environmental changes while ensuring alignment between cost structures and strategic objectives. The study highlights the critical importance of combining classical financial indicators with advanced analytical methods and digital tools such as ERP platforms, BI dashboards, and KPI-based reporting systems. Particular attention is given to the challenges associated with managing costs in innovative and grant-funded projects, considering the regulatory and audit requirements set by EU institutions for transparency, documentation, and accountability. The article substantiates the effectiveness of using a comprehensive, digital, and feedback-oriented approach to cost management. It outlines a set of implementation mechanisms—including technological, organizational, methodological, motivational, and regulatory tools—ensuring the practical applicability of the model. The findings confirm that the integration of strategic, analytical, and behavioral dimensions into cost management significantly enhances operational efficiency, organizational resilience, and financial sustainability. The proposed model can be applied in various sectors and is also suitable for use in business education programs aimed at training professionals in financial and operational management.
