Risk assessment of precision agriculture technology implementation projects
The paper proposes to assess the risks of implementing a project for the system of precision farming technologies in agricultural enterprises, taking into account the specifics of the implementation of such projects. It is proposed to use, in addition to the basic, optimistic and pessimistic, additional scenarios: a) a scenario for assessing the economic benefit from the implementation of the project, taking into account current prices for agricultural products; b) a scenario for taking into account the difference between the normative and planned yields of crops according to technological maps of their cultivation. The influence of individual factors on the efficiency indicators of the project for implementing precision farming technologies in a modern agricultural enterprise under martial law in Ukraine has been determined. The study allows us to conclude that the investment project is sufficiently sensitive to changes in critical factors such as yield and the level of saving of material resources (mineral fertilizers, plant protection products, and fuel). It is these parameters that should be the focus of management attention during the implementation of the project. It can be argued that implementing the precision agriculture project is highly financially feasible. All considered scenarios — both the baseline and alternative — demonstrate a positive NPV value, which confirms the project's viability in modern conditions even under a pessimistic scenario. This investment project is economically feasible, moderately risky, and justified for implementation in the activities of an agricultural enterprise in modern conditions. The key factor affecting such projects' financial performance is income from crop yield changes. Sensitivity analysis confirmed that yield has the most significant impact on the change in NPV. This emphasizes the need to carefully monitor agricultural production indicators and implement precise agronomic management to achieve the planned harvest volumes.
