Life sciences and healthcare in Ukraine: challenges and changes
The current state of Ukraine’s bioscience and healthcare sector is analyzed, considering the impact of the war and efforts to transform the industry digitally. The government’s strategic initiatives are discussed, including implementing a new MedTech strategy to develop bionic prosthetics, skin regeneration, burn treatment, mental health, and artificial intelligence in medicine. Particular attention is paid to the Lab2Market MedTech acceleration program launched by the IP Office of Ukraine, which aims to commercialize scientific developments in medical technologies. An overview of some Ukrainian medical startups, including the program participants, their areas of focus (diagnostics, rehabilitation, digital solutions, etc.), technology readiness levels, and key innovations is provided.
