Additive manufacturing Technologies: Advances for the construction industry

Abstract
In recent decades, additive manufacturing technologies have revolutionized the construction industry by improving operational efficiency, sustainability, housing quality, and design and material flexibility while ensuring higher levels of safety and durability through the use of automated systems. This article presents a Scoping Review of advances in additive manufacturing technologies developed for construction projects, highlighting the cinematic configurations, comparing capabilities, and describing types of materials and their applications in the manufacture of structural components. A review of the scientific literature was conducted according to the PRISMA methodology guidelines and included a selection of documents with a Cohen's coefficient of 0.463. A total of 52 relevant articles were obtained from the scientific databases of Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, Taylor & Francis, and ProQuest. The use of new technologies in additive manufacturing has contributed to increased versatility, enabling smarter material utilization, greater design freedom, shorter manufacturing times, more sustainable processes, and improvements in the control, precision, and flexibility of construction processes.
