REAL SELF AND IDEAL SELF OF WOMEN AND RELATIONSHIP SATISFACTION: A CORRELATIONAL STUDY OF YOUNG ADULT COUPLES
<ns3:p>The aim of this study is to describe the dynamics of the actual self and ideal self in romantic relationships and understand the link with relationship satisfaction. The article aims to answer the question of whether the ideal self of a woman differs from the partner’s ideal self of a woman? Will the alignment of these constructs positively correlate with relationship satisfaction? It is a correlation study of young adult couples using The Adjective Check List ACL and Couples Satisfaction Index CSI-32. The study found that the more satisfied one person is with a relationship, the more satisfied the partner is. In short relationships (up to 12 months), dissatisfied partners strongly realize their ideal self, in medium relationships (from 12 to 60 months), partners with similar characteristics have higher relationship satisfaction than those who differ from each other.</ns3:p>
