Adsorption properties of biomass power plant ash for Cd2+ in water
Cadmium pollution in industrial wastewater is one of the important environmental issues caused by industrial activities. After cadmium enters the water, it affects the aquatic ecosystem and further poses a threat to human health. Biomass fuel is a clean energy source, and the biomass power plant ash has the potential to be used as an adsorbent. This study uses biomass power plant ash as an adsorbent to investigate its adsorption kinetics and thermodynamic characteristics for Cd 2+ in wastewater and explore the influencing factors. The research results show that at pH=9 and an adsorption time of 90 minutes, the adsorption capacity of biomass power plant ash for Cd 2+ reaches its maximum. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model better fits this adsorption process, and the adsorption isotherm conformed to the Langmuir adsorption model, with a theoretical maximum adsorption capacity of 95.8773 mg·L -1 . Biomass power plant ash has good adsorption performance for Cd 2+ .
