Evaluating the Efficacy of Educational Initiatives in Bolstering Post-COVID-19 Syndrome Cognizance among COVID-19 Survivors in Karad
Abstract Context: The COVID-19 epidemic has become a major obstacle for the medical community, severely impacting people’s lives all around the world. The COVID-19 virus’s unexpected characteristics made recovery challenging and led to the occurrence of post covid syndrome (post-COVID-19) syndrome. Methodology: A quasi-experimental design was used for study in specialty hospital. Using purposive sampling, 228 COVID-19 survivors from a specialty hospital in Karad were selected. An educational program (45 min) covering all aspects of post-COVID-19 syndrome. A structured questionnaire was used. Descriptive and inferential statistics, including paired t -tests and Chi-square tests, were used. Results: Most of the study subjects (45%) were between 30 and 44 years of age, and 53% were male. Initially, 14% of the subjects demonstrated good awareness of post-COVID-19 syndrome, 77.6% had average awareness, and 7.8% had poor awareness. Following the implementation of the education program, 94.2% of the subjects exhibited good awareness, and 5.7% had average awareness. The mean awareness score significantly increased from 8.04 (standard deviation [SD] 2.305) to 12.255 (SD 1.225) ( t = 30.742, P < 0.0001), indicating the effectiveness of the education program. Conclusion: In conclusion, the education program proved to be effective in enhancing post-COVID-19 syndrome awareness among COVID-19 survivors, highlighting the importance of promoting initiatives.
