"THE GOOD LISTENER" IN CHINESE TREATIES FROM THE 3RD CENTURY BC TO THE 6TH CENTURY AD: ANALOGIES WITH MUSICOLOGICAL STUDIES OF THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURIES

The proposed research analyzes in depth the musical aspects of the following Chinese treatises: Lüshi Chunqiu, Liezi, Liji, Fengsu Tongyi, Wenxin Diaolong, etc., which were created between the 3rd century BCE and the 6th century CE. The present study also examines publications from the 20th and 21st centuries by European, American, and other authors. Although these publications do not directly refer to the achievements of Chinese thought, this study highlights evidence that similar issues have inspired both Chinese thinkers from the 3rd century BCE – 6th century CE and musicologists, musicians, and scholars in the 20th and 21st centuries.
