Finding solution for applying single window port community system for enhancing terminals operation and management: case study of Vietnam seaport system

Seaports play a role of utmost importance and acts as an incentive to the development of marine economy in particular, national coastal economy in general. They also serve as crossroads for import, export and transformation in delivery from maritime transport to rail, road and inland waterway transport. A Port Community System is an electronic platform which connects the multiple systems operated by a variety of organisations that make up a seaport, airport or inland port community. The article aims to develop a model for the Port Community System (PCS) as an integrated one-stop solution for port areas in Vietnam to enhance operational efficiency and management. The study employs a comparative analysis of PCS models from major ports worldwide, surveys the current state of information systems at Vietnamese port areas, and proposes a roadmap for implementing a suitable PCS. The research results establish a PCS model adapted to Vietnam’s conditions, providing a practical foundation for the digitization and integration of information systems at seaports.
