INFLUENCE OF AUDIOVISUAL AND MAGNETIC STIMULATION OF BRAIN STRUCTURES ON ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM PARAMETERS AND COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS
Introduction. External physical stimuli of certain characteristics can affect the parameters of the rhythms of the cerebral cortex (CC), influencing the cognitive abilities of an individual, which will serve as a basis for the inclusion of audiovisual and magnetic stimulation of the structures of the central nervous system (CNS) in a neurological clinic. Aim of the research. To identify the effect of audiovisual and magnetic stimulation of the brain structures from the device according to TU 32.50.21.112-018-39136787-2023 on the parameters of the electroencephalogram and cognitive functions (CF) of healthy volunteers. Materials and methods. A total of 40 healthy volunteers (men and women) with a mean age of 42.4 ± 4.5 years were examined during three visits with an interval of 2-4 weeks. The volunteers were randomly divided into two groups: Group 1 – experimental (30 people), received a course of audiovisual and magnetic stimulation of the cerebral structures from the device according to TU 32.50.21.112-018-39136787-2023 for 10 days. Group 2 – comparison one (10 people), underwent only a dynamic examination. In both groups, a standard electroencephalographic (EEG) examination was performed at baseline and after 2 weeks with the implementation of generally accepted functional tests. Cognitive functions of the central nervous system were determined using Schulte tables. Results. Upon completion of the course of audiovisual and magnetic stimulation of the brain structures, those examined during the EEG functional tests showed a greater depression of the alpha rhythm than those in the comparison group. Desynchronization in the low-frequency subranges of the alpha rhythm (6-10 Hz) was ob-served when performing tests that required involvement and attention. In patients from group 1, when per-forming functional tests, a more significant increase in the amplitude of the theta rhythm in the EEG was noted than in group 2. By the second visit, those examined in group 1 showed, according to Schulte tables, a reliable correction of the “Mental stability” indicator (p = 0.021), which remained at the same level by the third visit. The Degree of workability indicator significantly improved by the third visit from the initial values – by 1.19 times (p = 0.043). In group 2, the studied indicators remained stable throughout the observation period. Conclusion. Audiovisual and magnetic stimulation of the central nervous system from the device according to TU 32.50.21.112-018-39136787-2023 in healthy volunteers with a mean age of 42.4 ± 4.5 years contributes to shifts in the EEG state, causing a tendency to a greater depression of the alpha rhythm than in the comparison group, with a simultaneous increase in the amplitude of the theta rhythm on the EEG, improves neurodynamic cognitive functions, including increased work efficiency, the degree of working in and mental stability.
