The Impact of Applying Costing systems on Financial Performance during the COVID-19: Evidence from Jordanian Pharmaceutical Companies
The objective of this research was to examine how costing systems have affected the financial performance of three pharmaceutical companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study utilized a descriptive analytical approach and developed a questionnaire consisting of 21 items to measure the application of costing systems. To measure financial performance, this study utilized return on assets, return on equity, and earnings per share indicators for the fiscal period spanning from 2015 to 2021.These metrics were selected as they are commonly used to evaluate a company's financial health and profitability.According to the findings of this study, the selected pharmaceutical companies showed a high utilization rate of costing systems. The study also identified a statistically significant impact of costing systems on financial performance at a significance level of 0.05.This impact was observed in all three financial performance indicators, namely (ROA),(ROE) and (EPS).Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that the pharmaceutical companies under investigation should consider adopting modern cost accounting techniques and optimizing bureaucratic procedures to minimize expenses and increase returns.Such measures are expected to have a favourable impact on the financial performance indicators of these companies.
