Research hassles in criminology “Research Hassles” are, in essence, all those experiences that make a researcher feel unable to properly fulfill their task, thereby putting their own scientific integrity under pressure. Criminology is a field in which such research hassles are particularly likely to arise. It is a subject that is often discussed informally among colleagues at research institutes, universities of applied sciences, and universities, but has received little attention in the literature. This observation provided the impetus for this special issue, in which various authors reflect on research hassles based on their own experiences. This editorial outlines the theme and introduces the contributions included in this issue.
