EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF CLT PANELS WITH MODIFIED ORIENTATION OF TRANSVERSE LAYERS
Experimental investigation was conducted to determine the mechanical performance of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels subjected to out-of-plane bending in order to evaluete the effects of different orientations of laminations within transverse layers of the panels. Panels with conventional orientation of transverse layers at an angle of 90° in relation to longitudinal layers and panels with modified orientation of transverse layers at an angle of ±45° in relation to longitudinal layers were tested. The advantages of modified CLT panels are improved mechanical performance and more efficient use of resources taking into account material properties. Mechanical behavior of the panels under service and limit loads is described from the aspect of load-deflection relations, failure modes, load capacity, stiffness.
