Ultrastretchable, Highly Adhesive, and Self-Healing Ionogel for Flexible Strain Sensors

The application of ionogels in flexible sensors has garnered widespread attention. However, numerous studies indicate that preparing ionogels with high transparency, ultrastretchability, high toughness, and strong adhesion remains a significant challenge. In this paper, we report a method for preparing multifunctional ionogel using a one-pot photoinitiated approach. The ionogel is synthesized by uniformly mixing acrylamide (AM), 2-methoxyethyl acrylate (MEA), and lithium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide (LiTFSI), followed by ultraviolet (UV) light initiation. The resulting ionogel exhibits high transparency (>92%), ultrastretchability (6859%), strong adhesion (227.20 kPa), high self-healing efficiency (98.37%), good conductivity, high sensitivity, and stability. Therefore, strain sensors made from this ionogel can monitor human movement and detect swelling in patient’s legs or arms.
