Enhancing Interactive English Learning through Embedded Artificial Intelligence Technology

The purpose of this research is to assess the extent to which an AI-integrated, self-regulated English learning system is effective in enhancing learners’ grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and pronunciation skills. To prove the effectiveness of AI in language learning, the study compares an AI-based approach to conventional methods. A total of 60 participants were randomly divided into two groups. The participants of the study were divided into two groups: An experimental group that was taught with the help of the AI-embedded system and a control group that learned without the help of the system. This study had pre- and post-tests for grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and pronunciation. Paired [Formula: see text]-tests and ANOVA were used to compare pre- and post-test results and the effect size was calculated to assess the extent of the changes. The experimental group had a positive gain in all the skill areas especially in the areas of pronunciation and fluency. The statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences between the groups with a very small [Formula: see text]-value of less than 0.001 and a large effect size with Cohen’s [Formula: see text]. The user survey revealed that users were very interested in the AI system and felt that it provided helpful feedback and conversational practice opportunities. Study proves that the use of AI in learning models, particularly the interactive ones, improved English skills through feedback and increased interaction.
