Designing a Quality Control Module using Arduino UNO for Diesel Exhaust Fluid
This paper explains the application of an Arduino UNO (a micro controller) to collect data from various sensors employed in order to maintain the basic quality of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), or AUS or AdBlue, as advertised, so as to maintain the efficiency of the emission system of a diesel engine. The paper also discusses the standards followed to maintain the quality of DEF and the permissible range of properties varying within the fluid, along with issues with the fluid when stored inappropriately or when there are contaminants present, and how the Arduino program will alert the user when such instances take place. The paper briefly explains about Diesel Exhaust Fluid, chemical reactions that take place within (reduction reaction), identifying contaminations in DEF and code for the microcontroller along with a list of components that will sense the inappropriate quality of AdBlue and alert the user whenever required. Keywords: Diesel Exhaust Fluid, Arduino UNO, PPM Sensor, Temperature Sensor, Inappropriate Quality, Exhaust Emissions, Standards, AdBlue, Reduction Reaction, Contamination.
