Neonatal Case of Discontinuous Branch Pulmonary Arteries with Right Pulmonary Artery Originating from the Brachiocephalic Artery via Right-sided Ductus Arteriosus

Discontinuous branch pulmonary arteries without intracardiac anomalies are rare in neonates. In this patient, differential oxygen saturation between the limbs was detected using pulse oximetry, enabling early diagnosis of discontinuous branch pulmonary arteries. Prostaglandin E1 was administrated to maintain ductal patency, followed by stenting to stabilize pulmonary blood flow. This case report demonstrates the clinical utility of pulse oximetry in enabling timely intervention and improving outcomes in rare congenital conditions such as discontinuous branch pulmonary arteries.
