What Annie Knew

Do we have a moral obligation to warn someone entering a potentially abusive relationship? In this work of philosophical short fiction, Annie, a survivor of domestic abuse, grapples with whether to warn Eden, her ex-partner’s new girlfriend, about his violent tendencies. Torn between a sense of justice and compassion for Eden, and her own fear of Gray’s retaliation and Eden’s potential disbelief, Annie confronts the agonizing dilemma of whether to intervene and potentially prevent further harm, or prioritize her own fragile safety and escape.
