Transforming Sustainability Through Digitalisation: A Systematic Literature Review

Integrating digitalisation into sustainable business operations is a revolutionary aspect that transforms conventional practices into smarter, greener and sustainable ones. This article attempts to study the effect of digitalisation in contributing to sustainable business practices through a systematic literature review. This review includes the research articles from the time frame between 2020-2024 and the indexed Scopus database. 363 research articles were included in the search using the keywords “digitalisation” or” digital” and “sustainable business”. We ignored the articles in the press, conference papers, and non- English papers to ensure the quality of the review. After carefully considering each article in light of the objective and scope of the investigation, we shortlisted 11 research articles for review by following the 2020 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Protocols (PRISMA) statement. The study reveals that over the past 5 years, researchers have shown an interest in looking into the effect of digitalisation on sustainable business practices. The result indicates that digitalisation has a beneficial impact on achieving sustainable business goals. However, the study may be restricted to a small database and time frame, which may uncover areas that require further exploration.
