A Study on the Impact of Intellectual Property Rights Value Creation on Cross-border M&A Performance Based on Absorptive Capacity
The role of intellectual property rights as a strategic resource for national development in cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by Chinese enterprises is increasingly significant. This paper presents an analytical framework that links cross-border M&A, intellectual property rights, value creation, and absorptive capacity. It analyzes the impact of intellectual property rights value creation(IPVC)on M&A performance using a dataset of transactions from 2008 to 2023. Findings show that IPVC positively influences cross-border M&A performance, with absorptive capacity as the mediating factor. The positive effect of IPVC on cross-border M&A performance is more significant in non-state-owned enterprises, large enterprises, and enterprises in the eastern region.
