Poland: Political Developments and Data in 2024
Abstract Throughout the year 2024, Polish politics remained in a state of stalemate. The governing coalition's efforts to restore the rule of law were obstructed by both the President and the Constitutional Tribunal, who were loyal to the opposition. The outcomes of the regional, local and European Parliament elections demonstrated somewhat stronger popular support for the parties of the ruling coalition than the opposition. The existing high levels of political polarization heightened the significance of the presidential election scheduled for 2025.
