Analysis of Cultural Content in High School English Textbooks and Research on Teaching Paths—Comparison between Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and People’s Education Press

英语教材是学生接触和学习英语语言的重要材料，也是学生学习文化内容，认识社会与了解世界的重要途径。本文采用拜拉姆教材文化内容评价模式与跨文化交际理论对2019外研社版必修教材与2019人教版必修教材所呈现的文化内容进行对比分析，总结了两版教材中文化内容的分布特征与异同点。基于研究结果，本文建议教师加强对教材的理解，充分挖掘教材的育人价值，通过多种形式创设文化教学活动，引导学生正确认识和分析中外文化异同，以达到培养学生多元文化思维，提升跨文化沟通能力的文化教育目标。English textbooks are important materials for students to come into contact with and learn the English language, as well as an important way for students to learn cultural content, understand society and the world. This article uses the Bairam textbook cultural content evaluation model and Intercultural Communicative Competence to compare and analyze the cultural content presented in the 2019 Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) and 2019 People’s Education Press (People’s Education Press) compulsory textbooks, and summarizes the distribution characteristics and similarities and differences of cultural content in the two versions of textbooks. Based on the research results, this article suggests that teachers strengthen their understanding of textbooks, fully tap into the educational value of textbooks, create cultural teaching activities in various forms, guide students to correctly understand and analyze the similarities and differences between Chinese and foreign cultures, in order to achieve the cultural education goal of cultivating students’ multicultural thinking and enhancing their cross-cultural communication skills.
