A redescription of Bembecia strandi (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae)
Bembecia strandi (W. Kozhantschikov, 1936) is redescribed based on the new material collected from the type locality and the type specimens (lectotype and paralectotype). A detailed analysis of the external morphology, as well as the structures of the genitalia of both males and females, showed that this species is very close to B. sareptana (Bartel, 1912), but is quite clearly distinguished from it by the coloration of some parts of the body and the structure of the transparent areas of the forewing. In addition, these two species have slight differences in the structure of the genitalia of both males and females.
