Research Progress on the Treatment of Peripheral Facial Neuritis with Fire Dragon Canister Moxibustion

Facial motor dysfunction caused by peripheral facial neuritis can affect the patient’s appearance and reduce their quality of life. Acupuncture is commonly used in clinical practice for treatment, but it is prone to causing subcutaneous bleeding and tissue proliferation. The Fire Dragon Canister Moxibustion integrates the main therapeutic methods for peripheral facial palsy, namely moxibustion, gua sha, and massage, into a comprehensive treatment approach. It can improve the subcutaneous bleeding and tissue proliferation caused by acupuncture, promote facial blood circulation, enhance nerve excitability, exert anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects, boost immunity, improve the patient’s negative emotions, and harmonize the five elements. The clinical application has shown good results. This article reviews the research progress of Fire Dragon Canister Moxibustion in the treatment of peripheral facial neuritis, elaborates on its therapeutic effects and clinical significance, analyzes its advantages and limitations in treating peripheral facial palsy, and proposes strategies for improvement to provide references for clinical application.
