Integrating CAD Technologies and 3D Virtual Simulation to Enhance Fitting and Comfortability in Bra Pattern design

bra pattern design is a multifaceted process as the bra consists of multiple components; each component plays a vital role in providing support, comfort, and shaping for women’s breasts, which requires a deep understanding of both anatomical principles and consumer needs to achieve it. This study aimed to develop a compatible bra pattern block using CAD system technology that takes into account the anatomical structure of the female breast. An adjusted Ann Hagger pattern was selected and constructed using Gerber software, then exported to Clo3D software to assess fitting. An avatar (Emma avatar) was selected in the body type 'petite and curvy.' A questionnaire was evaluated by specialists in the ready-made industry and analyzed statistically using Jamovi software. The sample strongly tends towards rejection weaknesses identified in the pattern included (Cup containing the breast mass, the outer lines and the cup curves compatibility, the air gaps between the body and the bra, a mismatch between the area of some pattern parts and their counterparts on the body, and the back strap width), which were addressed by relying on the properties of three-dimensional fitting. The evaluated points were considered for the final pattern and reassessed using the same questionnaire. The sample answers tended towards agreement; the modified pattern achieved higher results in terms of balance and fit compared to the original pattern for the experiment. Consequently, Ann Hagger's bra pattern adjustments was necessary, and this study made a significant difference in the support and comfort feel of the high-performance bras

Abstract

bra pattern design is a multifaceted process as the bra consists of multiple components; each component plays a vital role in providing support, comfort, and shaping for women’s breasts, which requires a deep understanding of both anatomical principles and consumer needs to achieve it.
