Analysis of Impulsive Buying Behavior Among Online Shopping Consumers from the Perspective of Islamic Economics
The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed consumer behavior, including the rise of impulsive buying trends on online shopping platforms. Impulsive buying, characterized by sudden and unplanned purchases driven by emotional impulses, promotional offers, and visual appeal rather than actual necessity, raises concerns from the perspective of Islamic economics. This study aims to examine impulsive buying behavior in online transactions from the viewpoint of Islamic economic principles, particularly those related to tauhid (monotheism), justice, responsibility, and the prohibitions against israf (extravagance) and tabzir (wastefulness). The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing literature review and interviews with Muslim consumers who have engaged in impulsive online purchases. The findings reveal that while most consumers are aware that impulsive buying contradicts Islamic consumption principles, they still frequently engage in such behavior due to strong external influences and weak self-control. In Islamic economics, consumption should be based on actual needs, carried out in moderation, and free from waste. Therefore, enhancing Islamic economic literacy is essential not only to align consumer behavior with maqashid sharia (the higher objectives of Islamic law) but also to promote both spiritual and social well-being.
