Impact of Technological Innovation on Environmental Quality
This paper investigates the relationships between technological innovation and environmental quality using annual data. Both inbound remittances and economic growth are seen as important predictors of CO2 emissions and technological innovation functions. When considering the carbon dioxide emissions function, the findings show that technological innovation and economic growth degrade environmental quality in the long run by increasing atmospheric emissions, whereas a link between inward remittances and carbon dioxide emissions is established. On the policy front, this chapter propose that technological innovation be made more environmentally friendly, and that significant reliance on inward remittances for pollution-producing household appliances be discouraged in order to effectively mitigate both climate change and global warming in the long run.
