Особистісні особливості та стресостійкість студентів: психологічне консультування як засіб підвищення стресостійкості

The article presents a study of students’ psychological stress resilience and its relationship with personality traits, and substantiates approaches to improving resilience through psychological counseling. The sample consisted of 54 students (aged 18–23); stress load level was assessed by the Holmes–Rahe Social Readjustment Rating Scale, and personality traits by the Freiburg Personality Inventory (FPI). The majority of students showed a moderate stress load (≈69%), and one in five experienced high stress (low resilience, >300 life–change units). The average personality «profile» was balanced: respondents on average scored moderate levels on neuroticism, aggression, extraversion, etc., with the most pronounced trait being openness (honesty in responses). Correlation analysis revealed no strong statistically significant relationships between most personality traits and resilience level; the only weak correlation (r≈–0.28, p<0.05) was between lower resilience (higher stress load) and lower sociability (more shy, withdrawn students had slightly fewer stressful events). These findings indicate that the number of stressors experienced by students is little dependent on their personality characteristics; objective factors play a larger role. In the Discussion, psychological mechanisms of this phenomenon are considered, and the necessity of developing youth resilience through training self–regulation skills is emphasized. An outline of a counseling program for students with different resilience levels is proposed: for low–resilience individuals – focus on mastering anxiety–coping and emotion regulation techniques; for moderate/high–resilience – preventive measures (psychoeducation, support groups). It is concluded that personality traits and stress resilience have a complex, non–linear relationship, and psychological counseling is an effective tool to enhance students’ stress tolerance.
