A Gradient Descent Method for Target Distance Estimation in Forward Scatter Radar

This paper proposes a gradient descent iterative algorithm for target distance estimation in forward scatter radar. Through numerical results, it is demonstrated that the algorithm effectively converges to the true distance, the availability of which is essential to accurate target profile retrieval. An updated forward scatter model with non-binary shadow profile is also investigated, validating the feasibility of the proposed algorithm in this scenario.

Abstract

This paper proposes a gradient descent iterative algorithm for target distance estimation in forward scatter radar. Through numerical results, it is demonstrated that the algorithm effectively converges to the true distance, the availability of which is essential to accurate target profile retrieval. An updated forward scatter model with non-binary shadow profile is also investigated, validating the feasibility of the proposed algorithm in this scenario.
