Power Requirements for Sub-THz Near-Field Radar of Airborne Particles
This paper concerns the development of a bespoke near-field radar system able to deal with the wide range of airborne particulates for human health and machinery monitoring. Due to the μm - mm particle sizes being evaluated, it is important that such a system operates at a suitable output power to achieve a desired detection threshold. In this paper, we present a derivation of the transmit power requirements for a near-field sub- THz radar system. We further present a series of numerical experiments to investigate the dependence on frequency, particle density, and the particle size distribution.
